Power BI Premium – European Central Bank

Client Project: On-Premises to Cloud Migration with Power BI and Databricks (Azure)

I worked with the European Central Bank to modernize their data analytics solution by migrating from an on-premises environment to a cloud-based solution, utilizing Power BI Premium and Databricks. The project highlights include:

• Cloud Migration: Successfully migrated large-scale datasets (5 billion+ rows) and reporting processes from an on-premises system to a scalable and efficient cloud environment using Power BI as BI and reporting tool and Databricks as the central data warehouse.
• Adopting New Technologies: Transitioned the organization to leverage modern tools, including Databricks Notebooks and DBX Delta Live Tables (DLT), which replaced legacy on-premises ETL processes, providing enhanced flexibility, automation, and real-time data capabilities.
• Data Modeling: Designed and optimized complex data models in Power BI, ensuring seamless integration with cloud-based Databricks and maintaining high performance for analytical workloads.
• Report Development: Delivered advanced dashboards and reports tailored to the different department’s needs, showcasing the full potential of cloud-based analytics through Power BI Premium.
• Strategic Consulting: Provided advisory services on cloud architecture, migration strategies, and best practices for adopting Power BI Premium.

This project demanded a fairly comprehensive understanding of the existing legacy data solution, the complexities of cloud migration, and the need to navigate strict compliance and security policies.
